#0 Theo in Breukelen ☉
Theo is a Latinx hipster with three day stubble and messy hair worn in a fauxhawk fade. He’s wearing black skinny jeans, a long black sleeveless Rick Owens T shirt, and a leather camera sling bandolier around his shoulders. A red camera hangs under each arm. (LOMO Automat and Sprocket Rocket) His prized possessions, besides the camera, are a silver Ninja sword necklace (picture a straight katana) on his neck, and shiny black winged Jeremy Scott Adidas on his feet. His tattoo is a full geometric arm sleeve, with a sun in the middle, triangles and maze patterns. Like all of the Seven, he’s got a metallic aura surrounding his body, a nimbus of black light close to his skin. It has overlapping prismatic effects near his eyes and hands, like an after image on film or a drunk’s blurry vision.
He’s standing in the heart of Breukelen, a post-earthquake artist enclave across the river from Manahatta. The street and building behind him are cracked and overgrown with foliage, with glowing red fireflies rising from the cracks. Wheat paste graffiti covers the walls of an abandoned subway station entrance. The images are unfocused black and white lo-fi photographs with visible sprocket holes.
#1 Russ at WERK! ☿
Russ is a lanky Asian raver, world weary and sardonic. He’s rocking high end street wear: track pants, disco ball hoodie, the same winged Jeremy Scott Adidas sneakers and silver ninja sword as Theo, and a bunch of overlapping festival bracelets. His tattoo is the Mercury symbol on his upper ankle flowing into Japanese style dragon wings that spread up to cover his lower leg. His Aura continues out of the tattoo, wings that spread out on either side of him.
He’s sitting at WERK!, a hipster bar / shared work space filled with kitschy office decor. Russ is leaning back in his chair, his feet on the desk, and toasting with a mug that says Life’s A Bitch. A finished haiku spills out of an vintage typewriter, with previous drafts covering the floor like feathers.
A post-it note map of the world covers one wall, a white board coffee menu on the other next to a water cooler filled with beer.
#2 Sharon & The Serbian at Broken land ♄ ♅
Sharon is a striking, androgynous trans woman. Dark-skinned black, bald with chiseled features. Think young Grace Jones or Janelle Monae. They’re dressed in a flowing blouse, corset, cape, hood and platform boots. Instead of a necklace, they have an intricate silver poison ring on one hand, and a long silver scythe ring on the other, with which they beacon in a classic come hither pose. The Saturn symbol is tattooed across their eye and cheek, which is encompassed by a skull image on exactly half their face. Their Aurora extends out of the hood and cloak, flowing and shifting, merging with a curtain Sharon has pulled aside. It’s up to you to enter.
Standing guard behind Sharon is The Serbian, a grizzled, ex-military guy with close cropped hair and scruff. He wears black tactical pants, combat boots and tight black t-shirt. He wears three silver dog tags, with the names crossed out. The Uranus symbol, split in half, is tattooed on each forearm. He’s flanked by an aura copy of himself on each side, slightly overlapping and out of focus like a 3D image. Each doppelgänger has one half of the tattoo on a single arm.
They stand in an abandoned subway tunnel under Breukelen, inside the entrance of Broken Land. They are surrounded by the dismantled pieces of an antique, Art Deco subway car, it’s parts repurposed as seating, a ticket booth, and a coat rack. A massive crack in the tunnel floor and wall have created a stream across the tunnel on front of them, with a glowing root system spilling out of the wall. Thru the curtain, in the distance, the tunnel opens into a subway station, the club proper. Bright beams of light spill out, illuminating the silhouette of a throng of people with arms raised in celebration.
#3 Aria in the Tower ♀
Aria is a free spirited goth hippy with dark red hair, pale skin, and big eyes. She’s wearing a flowing skirt, no shoes, and a silver disco ball hoodie unzipped over a fishnet top or black tape. Her necklace is a pair of silver clothespins, connected by a fine silver chain looped tightly around her neck. One of the clips holds a hand-rolled joint of red tobacco. A tattoo of Venus and spider webs covers her lower belly. Her Aura extends out into multiple ghost arms and eyes, all extended like a seductive Hindu goddess.
She’s dancing on a round, overstuffed ottoman in the center of a repurposed Breukelen water tower. It’s a round, wood room filled with speakers, candles, shelves of bric a brac, and Edison bulbs hanging down on strings. A ladder disappears up into a trapdoor in the ceiling. Lights bounce off her disco ball hoodie in all directions
#4 Minus at GR€€D ♇ ♆ ☾
Minus is a spoiled trust funder with youthful features, a cocky smirk, and a looped silver spoon necklace on his neck. He wears rumpled, but expensive, dress clothes, all black. Tie loosened, shirt half untucked, and sleeves rolled up. His tattoo is on his neck. His aura is concentrated around his hands, where it extends out of his fist in interlocking chain links. These chains swirl out and connect, leash-like, to the three women behind him, glass eyed bottle service waitresses known as the Erins, virtual triplets except for their different colored hair.
He’s standing in GR€€D, a gaudy bottle service dedicated to all things money. Green money print couches, gold fixtures, a replica of the Wall Street bull statue, and a bright stock market ticker running around the edge of the ceiling. Champagne buckets dot the tables, filled with sparkler covered bottles of Champagne.
#5 Manny in the LAB ♂
Manny is a short, muscular Dominican man-child with a silly grin. He’s affable and sweet, wearing a Chicago Bull’s baseball hat, black True Religion Jeans, and a My Little Pony tank top. Yes, he’s a Brony. His necklace is a twisting silver horn, and his tattoo is the Mars symbol on his shoulder and upper chest. His aura is much bigger than he is, a hulking figure with undulating metallic spikes that look like Ferrofluid over a magnet.
He’s standing in the LAB, an abandoned Terminal warehouse, surrounded by architectural blueprints on the walls, massive speaker stacks, red lighting, all sorts of Nikola Tesla-style equipment, and tanks of red liquid.
#6 Deadalus in Broken Land ♃
Deadalus is a swarthy older man with top knot, bushy beard and intense eyes ringed in dark mascara. He wears a flowing black poncho over a low necked black tank top and black harem pants. His Jupiter tattoo covers the back of his hand, with maze patterns and overlapping triangles up his arm. He wears a necklace made of 3 overlapping triangles, each extending into a rod of different length. His Aura repeats this triangular pattern, flowing from his hands and into the mixing board in front of him.
He stands in the DJ booth of Broken Land, arms outstretched over the decks like a concert pianist. He’s lit by a single spotlight. The booth itself is flanked by two subway cars emerging akimbo from a caved-in tunnel, covered in intricate white neon lights. The booth itself is unlike any other, vintage equipment wired together with Giger-esque black cables: reel to real decks on either side, a huge otherworldly synthesizer, and Chrome triangular monitor speaker horns that flank him, pumping out waves of energy and sound. The wall behind him is a large convex round astrological clock, make of triangular mirrors that function as a disco ball.
